Mom had been battling Ovarian cancer for the past 2 years. After enduring 2 surgeries and multiple rounds of grueling chemotherapy we were blessed to learn in October 2010 she had finally reached remission. In February 2011, we received word that the cancer had returned and spread to her liver & lungs. She persevered through 2 more months of chemo, but to our disappointment, the cancer was still progressing. It was at this point that her oncologist recommended discontinuing treatment and beginning hospice care.
Mom lived with us for 3 weeks until the disease progressed to the point where she needed full time inpatient hospice care. Mom wanted everyone to know how thankful she is for all the love, support & prayers she has received during this incredibly challenging journey. Mom credits all the love, support and care from her family, friends, doctors and nurses, combined with the strength she received from our Lord and guidance by the Holy Spirit, for her ability to fight this incredible battle. Knowing how rare & aggressive this type of cancer is, we are so fortunate that she was able to not only see her grandson, Colton be born but also to enjoy him throughout his entire first year.
There is never enough time, never enough hugs, never enough kisses, but when we cherish each and every one of them they will be with us forever. I have no doubt that Mom is now our beautiful Angel watching over us. We will miss her terribly until we are together again.
